How far have Pats fallen? Ticket prices for last few games paint an ugly picture

Can you imagine back in 2018, getting a loved one Pats tickets as a Christmas gift and spending less than $100 for each seat?

Speaking from personal experience, $300 just to get in for any game in December was the norm just a handful of years ago. Now, with the defending Super Bowl champs and arguably the best QB of his generation in Foxborough, you can get in for $85 as of 2 P.M. on Thursday.

Stub Hub had tickets listed for the game against Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kielce and the Chiefs – most likely with Taylor Swift in the building too – in the 300 sections going for anywhere between $85-$110. The 200 sections are going for as cheap as $113 in the corner opposite the lighthouse, while the 100 sections are currently anywhere between $130-$210 ahead of Sunday’s matchup.

During the Tom Brady days, those 200 sections would have been at least $400 and the 100’s would have been at least $500 and up whether this game was in its original Monday Night Football slot or not.

How about the regular season finale against the Jets on January 7th? While the Jets may be out of the playoff hunt by then and Aaron Rodgers most likely won’t be suiting up unless they’re in a win-and-in situation, it could very well be Bill Belichick’s last game as head coach of the Patriots. That’s a collectors item ticket (print out these days) if there ever was one, right?

Well, again, as of mid afternoon on Thursday, those tickets at Gillette were going for as little as $54 in the 300 sections, $71 for the 200 sections and $93 for one of the 100’s end zone sections facing the lighthouse. Those prices are probably going to stay where they are or maybe even drop a little over the next few weeks no matter what happens against Kansas City, Denver and Buffalo.

Speaking of Denver and Buffalo, just for fun, I took a look to see what the get in prices were for those two road games – the Broncos on Christmas Eve night and the Bills on New Year’s Eve day – to see if those fan bases had any more interest than the fans do here. At the very least, other fan bases can now revel in the Patriots’ demise and surely they’ll take advantage of that opportunity.

Not so much, at least in Denver.

Denver’s current get in price for a ticket in the 500’s is $42, while the ‘get in’ price in Buffalo in one of the 300 sections is $101. Clearly, Bills fans are more likely to want to go crap all over the Patriots and Christmas Eve is a tougher ask from fans, but those prices would have been doubled just a few years ago.

If you can’t figure out what to get a loved one for Christmas and you’re all out of ideas, for the first time in a long, long time, Patriot tickets might be the best option this holiday season.

How quickly things change.
