College Football: Ten Thoughts On Week 7

Laviska Shenault cost himself a shot at the Heisman after the Buffaloes lost to USC last weekend.

Some thoughts on Week 7 of the college football season.

1. Texas clearly experienced an Oklahoma hangover but in the end, they were able to beat an improved Baylor team.

2. Notre Dame also experienced a hangover against Pitt. Quarterback Ian Book struggled in the first half. The mark of a good team is finding a way to win. The Irish did that against the Panthers.

3. Colorado losing to USC cost the Pac-12 and athlete Laviska Shenault a chance at potentially winning the Heisman.

4. I am not going to say that I think Florida is back but Dan Mullen has them playing with a chip on their shoulder again. The Gators are always better when it is them against the world.

5. I don’t want to hear nonsense that Georgia is a national title contender. They got physically whooped by LSU last week. The Tigers dominated the line of scrimmage. That is where championships are won.

6. I think it is time we all started to recognize Michigan as a legit national championship contender. They beat the bag out of Wisconsin. If they win this week in East Lansing and beat Ohio State, they are going to get one of the final four spots.

7. Alabama played it’s worst game of the season against Mizzou and still won by 29 points.

8. Oregon’s win over Washington is proof that the Ducks are back. With some more quality recruiting, Oregon will be a player in the Pac-12 for years to come. Mario Cristobal and his staff can recruit with the best of them.

9. Sorry Central Florida fans but your beloved Knights should have lost to Memphis. They are not worthy of a spot in the college football playoff.

10. And just like that, Penn State has fallen apart after another heart breaking loss to Michigan State. I cannot say I am surprised. I never bought the Nittany Lions as a legit contender in the Big Ten this season.
