Boston College lands Georgia CB Bryquice Brown in the transfer portal

Boston College has picked up a commitment from cornerback Bryquice Brown. The Georgia State transfer is a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility left.

Brown is a Dorchester native so this is a home coming for him. He has been a three year starter for the Panthers. The 6-0 185 pound cornerback finished with one interception, six passes defended and 25 solo tackles this past season.

For his career, he has five interceptions, 92 tackles and 23 passes defended.

Brown adds depth and experience to a secondary that will be young next season. Thanks to the portal and graduation, the Eagles will be thin at cornerback, it will be a point of emphasis for Jeff Hafley and his staff this off-season.

Hafley has already acknowledged the importance of attacking the transfer portal this off-season.

“I wanted to be able to go out and bring 25 – which is what you’re allowed to bring in – 25 high school players, develop them, coach them, and by the time they’re seniors, you’re rolling, right? That’s where our senior class kind of is, but that’s shifted man. The world we’re in right now, some people are going 100% in the transfer portal, some are going 50/50,” he explained. “It’s shifted in my mind as well. For this class specifically – which is why you’re seeing way less high school players. Yeah, we’re going to attack the portal hard.”

Brown is the second player added in the portal for the Eagles. He joins North Carolina tight end Kamari Morales who committed last week.
