MILTON – In a performance for the ages, Curry College running back Montie Quinn rushed for a staggering 522 yards and 7 touchdowns on just 20 carries in the Colonels’ 71-27 victory over Nichols. The senior running back’s monumental effort didn’t just win a game; it shattered the NCAA single-game rushing record across all divisions, establishing a new benchmark in college football history.

Quinn’s stat line is almost unbelievable, representing one of the most efficient rushing performances ever recorded at any level of college football. His 20 carries yielded an outrageous average of 26.1 yards per attempt. To put the yardage in perspective, Quinn’s total eclipsed the previous all-division NCAA record of 465 yards, set by Cartel Brooks of Heidelberg (DIII) in 2013, and far surpassed the Division I mark of 427 yards held by Samaje Perine.

The seven rushing touchdowns also set a new Curry College program record for scores in a single game. His explosive plays included long-distance trips to the end zone, with touchdown runs covering distances like 85, 84, 76, 64, 58, and 30 yards. Nearly 400 of his total yards came from these seven scoring plays alone.

Despite the overwhelming individual accomplishment, Quinn deflected the praise, immediately crediting his teammates.

“I’m just humbled and grateful. Breaking the record is something I never imagined coming into today,” Quinn added: “The O-Line was dominating all game, receivers were blocking like crazy, and coaches put us in position to make plays. This belongs to all of us. I just happened to be the one carrying the ball.”

Curry Head Coach Todd Parsons echoed the sentiment of his record breaking running back.

“What Montie did today was nothing short of amazing. Breaking the NCAA rushing record is a monumental achievement,” Parsons said, while also acknowledging the team effort. “I think he’d be the first to tell you, records like this don’t happen alone.”

The performance not only secured a win for the Colonels but cemented Montie Quinn’s place in college football lore, making him the first player in NCAA history to break the 500-yard rushing barrier in a single game.

Quinn has rushed for has rushed for 1,450 yards and 17 touchdowns in 6 games this season. He is averaging 241.7 yards per game.
