Newest Patriots looking forward to ‘energy’ from the fan base

I’m obviously biased, but this is the best sports fan base in the country.

As far as being true a-holes to opponents, Philly probably takes first, then it’s a battle between Boston and New York and Detroit has an argument. Chicago is too nice.

So, for some of the newest free agent signings for the Patriots, getting to be on the other side of fans’ attention will be a welcomed change.

“That infectious energy that they’re going to bring on Sunday,” edge Dre’Mont Jones said on Thursday when I asked him specifically what he’s looking forward to most playing in front of the fans. “That’s what we need. I’ve heard nothing but great things. There’s a rich tradition here.”

The only thing Jones will need to do before Friday night is learn which team plays hockey in Boston…

“There’s so much success,” he continued. “Whether it’s the Celtics. Whether it’s the Patriots. Whether it’s the Red Sox. Whether it’s the hockey team…I forget the name of the team. There’s been so much success here in the New England, Boston area, I’m looking forward to feeling that energy.”

Alijah Vera Tucker has plenty of experience dealing with hostile Foxborough crowd as a New York Jet for the last five years.

He’s certainly looking forward to being on the other side of the rowdiness.

“Just the energy, man. Honestly. Every time, being with the Jets the past five years, whenever the Patriots came to MetLife or we came here, there was always great energy, passion,” said Vera-Tucker.

“You can really feel it, so I’m definitely looking forward to that.”

The energy truly returned to Gillette Stadium last year for the first time in a long time. Hopefully, it remains so Vera-Tucker, Jones and all the other newcomers can feel what special days and nights in January feel like in Foxborough.
