Underclassman Spotlight: Brady Mahoney, OL/DL, Chelmsford

We recently chatted with Chelmsford 2028 offensive and defensive lineman Brady Mahoney. The 6’5, 319 pound lineman is garnering a lot attentive this off-season and he is becoming a household name.

Mahoney loves football but he also has a lot of interests off the field.

Let’s get to know Brady Mahoney.

NEFJ: Talk about your football journey. When did you start playing football? What attracted you to the sport?

BM: “I started playing football around 7th grade, I liked how people threw each other down to the ground. I liked the aggression.”

NEFJ: When did you start playing offensive line? What attracted you to the position (s)?

BM: “I started playing offensive line in 7th grade. It was attractive to me because I’m big and I fit nicely into the position, it was like a win, win for me.”

NEFJ: Describe how much of a role your family has played in your development. Why do you think it is important to have that support?

BM: “My family has been huge supporters in my development. It makes me 1% better every day. They also helped me become a man that I am today, It’s important to have that support because it makes you feel loved and valued.”

NEFJ: When you’re not doing anything football related, what do you like to do off the field? Favorite hobbies, activities etc.

BM: “I ideally work out, watch sports podcasts, go for jogs, and hang out with friends.”

NEFJ: What is your go to meal before a game? Is it the same thing every week?

BM: “My go to would be chicken, rice, avocados, and some fruit on the side. It changes every week.”

NEFJ: It is ten minutes before kickoff, what are you listening to get you hyped before you go out and play?

BM: “I am definitely listening to “Living In America” from the Rocky movie soundtrack.

NEFJ: What are your personal and team goals for the 2026 season and how do you go about accomplishing them?

BM: “My goals would be to have a healthy offensive line, let up 0 sacks, drive the opposing team into the ground, the biggest one would definitely be bringing Chelmsford to a championship game at Gillette stadium. I wake up at 4:30 am or 5:15am and start working out or doing cardio.”

NEFJ: What is one thing you want the college programs that are recruiting you to know about you?

BM: “I am a great kid if you give me a chance, I’ll meet all the expectations, work hard, and be a great player off and on the field.”
