The Cleveland Browns should release running back Isiah Crowell after he posted a picture on his Facebook page of a police officer getting his throat slash.
While I agree that Crowell has every right to post whatever he wants on his Facebook page, posting that picture in light of recent events was a bad decision and as a result, I think Crowell should be released.
On the surface, that might seem like a harsh punishment but if you’re Browns coach Hue Jackson, I don’t think you have a choice.
Jackson is trying to turn the Browns around and he’s trying to do it with high character individuals. Obviously Crowell lacks the character and the ability to make good decisions. If he cared enough about his image or his employer, he wouldn’t have posted the picture.
The Browns released a statement Monday night that stated team officials had spoken to Crowell. It said “just an apology is insufficient and (Crowell) must take steps to make a positive difference after a negative and impactful post.”
Reading between the lines. The Browns will not release Crowell but he’s on thin ice and he has a lot of work to do to get back into the good graces of the Browns.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Browns do in this situation. They should release Crowell but they won’t because other than Duke Johnson, they have no other backs on the roster and they need him.
