Ross Douglas leaving the Patriots for Syacuse

Pete Thamel of ESPN is reporting that Patriots wide receiver coach Ross Douglas is leaving to take the receivers join at Syracuse. According to Thamel, Douglas will have a role in the offense as well. Douglas has previously coached at Richmond and Rutgers.

Douglas spent past three seasons with the Patriots. He began his time here as a defensive quality control coach under the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship. He was promoted to assistant wide receivers coach in 2022. Douglas was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the West roster during the East-West Shrine Bowl this past January.

Douglas played linebacker and safety for three seasons at Michigan and transferred to Rutgers where he played his final two seasons. Douglas went undrafted in 2018. He ended up going to rookie mini-camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After retiring from football, Douglas spent three seasons at Rutgers as a graduate assistant before becoming the cornerbacks coach at Richmond in 2021.

Now he will go to work for recently hired Fran Brown. Brown was previously the defensive back coach at Georgia.
