Recruiting: UConn lands a big one in the transfer portal in tight end Louis Hansen

UConn picked up a big transfer portal commitment last night when former St, Sebastian’s tight end Louis Hansen committed to the Huskies.

Hansen entered the portal on December 5th and after taking his time, he settled on UConn. From a physical standpoint, Hansen is a tremendous fit in offensive coordinator Nick Charlton’s offense. He is an above average run blocker who can create match up problems for defenses in 11 and 12 personnel.

The 6-6 252  pound tight end had a litany of offers coming out of high school. His offer list was a who’s who of Power 5 programs. From Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Boston College to Florida, Hansen had over 30 offers.

UConn was among the programs that offered Hansen initially but they did not really have a shot at him. With Jim Mora and his staff in place now and the program experiencing some success, UConn became much more appealing to Hansen.

Hansen played sparingly at Michigan playing only nine snaps in two years. He never really got the opportunity to prove what he can do. At UConn, he has the opportunity to step in and make a difference right away.

With three years of eligibility remaining, Hansen will be a fixture in the Huskies offense for years to come.
