The Patriots continued their secondary overhaul on Wednesday by reaching an agreement with safety Mike Brown on a one-year contract.
While the specific financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed, the signing is a depth move aimed at fortifying both the secondary and the special teams unit.
Brown, who is set to turn 27 in April, arrives in Foxborough with 35 games of experience over the last three seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 218 pounds, he is a physical presence who flourished as a core special teams contributor under current Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel during their shared time in Tennessee in 2023. This familiarity likely played a significant role in his recruitment, as the Patriots look to address kickoff coverage issues that plagued them late in the 2025 season.
The addition of Brown is part of a larger reshuffling of the safety room. He joins a group now headlined by newly signed All-Pro Kevin Byard—another former Titan—alongside Craig Woodson and Brenden Schooler. The move effectively fills the roster spot vacated by Jaylinn Hawkins, who departed the team just hours earlier to sign a two-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
By securing Brown on a one-year pact, the Patriots gain an experienced defender who can step into a rotational role while providing high-level play on fourth downs.
