Patriots release Jaimes and Battle, paving way for Williams and Campbell

The Patriots have announced that they released cornerback Miles Battle and offensive lineman Brenden Jaimes. These moves come as the team navigates injury returns and fine-tunes its depth for the postseason push.

Battle, a 25-year-old cornerback standing at 6-foot-3 and 197 pounds, ends his most recent stint with the Patriots after several months of moving between the active roster and the practice squad. Battle’s journey to New England began after he entered the league as a rookie free agent out of Utah with the Kansas City Chiefs in early 2024. Following his release from Kansas City, the Patriots added him to their practice squad in October 2024, eventually promoting him for a memorable NFL debut in the season finale against Buffalo where he recorded two tackles and three passes defensed.

Battle has served as a reliable depth piece in the secondary. After being released at the end of training camp and re-signed to the practice squad, he earned an elevation for the October 19 game at Tennessee, primarily contributing on special teams. He was most recently signed to the 53-man roster on November 26 and finishes his season with three total tackles across five game appearances.

Jaimes departs Foxborough following a brief period on the active roster. The 26-year-old, 300-pound veteran joined the Patriots’ practice squad in September 2025 after a preseason stint with the Tennessee Titans. Jaimes brought significant professional experience to New England, having previously played 46 games for the Los Angeles Chargers after being selected as a fifth-round draft pick out of Nebraska in 2021.

Jaimes provided the Patriots with essential versatility on the interior line, particularly during a stretch of injuries to key starters. He was elevated for games against Carolina and the New York Giants earlier this fall to bolster the special teams units. New England had signed him to the 53-man roster on December 23, 2025, to provide insurance in the trenches, but his release now suggests a shift in the team’s health or a tactical change as they prepare for the season’s conclusion.

The departures of Battle and Jaimes likely signals the return of key contributors from the injured reserve list. Both Milton Williams and first-round offensive tackle Will Campbell, are nearing their return to the active roster. By clearing these roster spots, the Patriots are positioning themselves to integrate their starters back into the fold for a potential deep playoff run in January.
