According to the Boston Herald, wide receiver Danny Amendola had knee and ankle surgery this off-season and could miss the start of the 2016 season. Amendola restructured his contract last week to stay with the Patriots and now we know why.
Amendola likes playing here but he also knows that if he hit the open market as “damaged” goods, he would have a hard time finding work. The additions of Chris Hogan, Nate Washington, Malcolm Mitchell and Devin Lucien this off-season also put pressure on Amendola to restructure his deal.
It’ll be interesting to see if Amendola starts the season on the PUP list. If he does, the Patriots have enough receivers in camp that they can fill the void. Amendola needs to be productive in 2016 otherwise he could be out the door nex t off-season.
