Patriots Pulse Blog: Pot Roast Will Fit In Nicely With the Patriots.

The Patriots have agreed to a one year, $4.5 million dollar deal with defensive tackle Terrance “Pot Roast” Knighton. Knighton picked the Patriots over re-signing with the Redskins. He will be a great fit with the Patriots as a shade defensive tackle in their 4-3 base.

Knighton has played with the Jaguars, Broncos and Redskins in his career. He’s known as a run stuffing, two gap tackle who can play on first and second down. Knighton only has eight sacks in his career so he’s not a pass rusher. Hopefully Bill Belichick and Matt Patricia don’t use Knighton like they did Vince Wilfork. They thought Wilfork could rush the passer and they left him in the game on second and third and long. All Wilfork did was dry hump the guard he was over. He couldn’t consistently generate a pass rush.

Knighton will add a proven, veteran presence to the Patriots defensive line. He’s been remarkably durable for a big guy during his career. As long he stays on the field, he’ll make a difference, especially on early downs. It’s another shwred pick up by Belichick.
