Patriots announce Tom Brady’s return in the season opener versus the Eagles

The NFL Schedule is set to be released tonight but as we’ve seen in recent years, every team’s schedule is slowly leaked throughout the course of the day. We found out this morning that the Patriots will be hosting the Philadelphia Eagles Week One and the Miami Dolphins Week Two.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft also announced this morning on Good Morning Football that the team will be honoring legendary quarterback Tom Brady on opening weekend as well. It will be the first of many ceremonies to honor the greatest quarterback of all time according to Mr. Kraft.

“I’m happy to tell you and your audience that I invited (Brady) back to come here and be with us for the opening game and let the fans in New England thank him for the great service he gave us for over 20 years,” Kraft said. “And it’ll be the beginning of many celebrations to honor Tom Brady and to say, ‘thank you’ for what he did for us in those 20 years of playing for the New England Patriots.”

Brady’s return is big news. There was a lot of uncertainty as to whether Brady would be coming back to the organization anytime soon. Well, now we know he is coming back and the team will honor him at halftime of the game against the Eagles.

Kraft and Brady stayed in touch even after his departure and there was no animosity between him and the organization, contrary to what people thought.

I still think the Hall of Fame committee should have waived the five year waiting period and put Brady into the Patriots Hall of Fame this summer. I would also like to see the Patriots announce that are building a statue of both Brady and Bill Belichick at some point. Both deserved to be immortalized for what they did for the organization.

For now, we’ll take Brady being honored at halftime of the season opener. What he did in a Patriots uniform is unmatched and should be celebrated now that he is retired.
