Eric Fisher hasn’t lived up to the Chiefs expectations thus far.

Lost in the hoopla of this past weekend’s NFL draft was Monday’s option deadline. Teams had until Monday to pick up a player’s fifth year option. Here are my thoughts on each first round pick of the 2013 draft and why their options were or weren’t picked up.

No. 1 Pick: Eric Fisher, OT Chiefs: Fisher has struggled at times in his first three years in the league but the Chiefs see enough upside in him to warrant picking up fifth year option. Next season is a make or break year however for Fisher.

No. 2 Pick: Luke Joeckel, OT, Jaguars: Joeckel has been a bust thus far with the Jaguars. He has really struggled at left tackle. Joeckel has struggled so much, that the Jags signed free agent Kelvin Beachum this off-season to replace him. Joeckel may kick inside to guard this season but unless he turns things around and proves to be productive, he will have no market next off-season when he hits free agency.

No. 3 Pick: Dion Jordan, DE, Dolphins: Jordan is currently suspended for multiple violations of the league’s substance abuse policy. He does not qualify for the fifth year option as a result.

No. 4 Pick: Lane Johnson, OT, Eagles: Johnson doesn’t qualify for the fifth year option because he signed a five year, $63 million dollar extension with the Eagles last season.

No. 5 Pick: Ezekiel Ansah, DE, Lions: The Lions chose to keep Ansah at a $12.7 million dollar price tag in 2017. Its a smart move despite the cost. Ansah has quietly been one of the best players in the 2013 draft.

No. 6 Pick: Barkevious Mingo, DE, Browns: Mingo has been a bust up until this point and he plays soft, especially against the run. The Browns declined to pick up his option which means he’ll be a free agent in 2017.

No. 7 Pick: Jonathan Cooper, OG, Patriots: The Patriots opted not to pick up Cooper’s option. Smart move. They want to see Cooper prove himself before they commit to him. Cooper has been a bust thus far so 2016 is going to be a big season for him.

No. 8 Pick: Tavon Austin, WR, Rams: The Rams picked up Austin’s option for 2017. Smart move. He has developed into a big play threat in an offense that is starting to show potential. Austin could put up bigger numbers now that Jared Goff will be throwing him the ball.

No. 9 Pick: Dee Millner, CB, Jets: The long and athletic corner out of Alabama has been a bust thus far and he can’t stay healthy. The Jets chose not pick up his option.

No. 10 Pick: Chance Warmack, OG, Titans: The Titans refused to pick up Warmack’s fifth year option. Warmack has struggle with his weight and inconsistent play. GM Jon Robinson focused on the offensive line in this draft so the pressure is on Warmack to perform or he’ll be out of Tennessee.

No. 11 Pick: D.J Fluker, OG, Chargers: The Chargers picking up Fluker’s option makes sense despite the fact that he has battled injuries. They need all the help they can get up front.

No. 12 Pick: D.J Hayden, CB, Raiders: The Raiders did not pick Hayden’s option and rightfully so. He’s been awful and is arguably the worst pick of general manager Reggie McKenzie’s tenure in Oakland.

No. 13 Pick: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Jets: Despite having some run ins with the law off the field, Richardson is a good player and it makes sense for the Jets to pick up his $8 million dollar option for 2017.

No. 14 Pick: Star Lotulelei, DT, Panthers: This was a no brainer for the Panthers. Lotulelei has developed into one of the best defensive tackles in the league.

No. 15 Pick: Kenny Vaccaro, FS, Saints: Vaccaro has been injury prone and inconsistent but the upside is there and the Saints are willing to give him another year to prove it.

No. 16 Pick: E.J Manuel, QB, Bills: The Bills declined to pick up Manuel’s option and rightfully so. He has been a monumental bust thus far. Cardale Jones will now be labeled the “new” quarterback of the future in Buffalo.

No. 17 Pick: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia: You could make the case that Jones has been the most disappointing player in this class. He hasn’t flashed the explosiveness that he did in college and he’s struggled against the run. Jones only has 5 career sacks.

No. 18 Pick: Eric Reid, FS, 49ers: Reid has quietly been one of the best players in this class. The 49ers need defensive play makers and the rangy and athletic Reid is the leader of their secondary.

No. 19 Pick: Justin Pugh, OT, Giants: Pugh hasn’t been great but the Giants picking up his option makes sense. Pugh has found a home inside at guard and he is starting to come along in his development.

No. 20 Pick: Kyle Long, OG, Bears: Long is the Bears best offensive lineman. he is a physical run blocker and a terrific short area pass blocker. Picking up his option is the best move the Bears have made this off-season.

No. 21 Pick: Tyler Eifert, TE, Bengals: Eifert had a monster season in 2015 and he has emerged as one of the best receiving tight ends in the league. He complements A.J Green inside the hashes and he has become Andy Dalton’s go to guy in the red zone.

No. 22 Pick: Desmond Trufant, CB, Falcons: The Falcons were smart to pick up Trufant’s 2017 option for $8 million. He is emerging as one of the best young cover corners in the league.

No. 23 Pick: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Vikings: I’m surprised the Vikings picked up Floyd’s option. He’s been inconsistent and hasn’t provided the pass rush the Vikings thought he would.

No. 24 Pick: Bjoern Werner, OLB, Free Agent: The Colts gave up on the Florida State bust earlier this off-season.

No. 25 Pick: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Vikings: No brainer! Rhodes has emerged as the Vikings best cover corner. He is on his way to elite status with his length, ball skills and ability to play man in all situations.

No. 26 Pick: Datone Jones, DE, Packers: The Packers will not be picking up Jones’ option which means this will probably be his last season in Green Bay. I don’t know why GM Ted Thompson took him. He was never a scheme fit.

No. 27 Pick: DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Texans: Hopkins has emerged as one of the best receivers in the league. He is a legit deep threat who can beat any corner in the league one on one. If the Texans didn’t pick up his option, then the entire organization should have been fired and Bob McNair should have been forced to sell the team.

No. 28 Pick: Sylvester Williams, DT, Broncos: Williams just hasn’t flashed the same explosiveness and ability to get up the field that he did in college. The Broncos will not pick up his option.

No. 29 Pick: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Vikings: The Vikings have declined to pick up Patterson’s option because he went from an explosive play maker to a goof ball who shows off after scoring the lone touchdown in a blowout loss. Well that and struggling to pick up Norv Turner’s offense also.

No. 30 Pick: Alec Ogletree, OLB, Rams: Ogletree has quietly developed into one of the best outside linebackers in the league. He can play all three downs and has developed into one of the best young pass rushers in the league. Picking up his option makes sense.

No. 31 Pick: Travis Frederick, OC, Cowboys: One of the best centers in the game and the linchpin of the Cowboys offensive line. Picking up his option was a no brainer.

No. 32 Pick: Matt Elam, FS, Ravens: Ed Reed’s replacement has been a bust thus far and his days with the Ravens might be numbered. Baltimore not picking his option was a smart move.
