NCAA Football: Bowl Preview and Picks for December 28th

It’s another great day of bowl action with four games on the docket for today. Here’s our preview and picks.

PITT v. Northwestern -4.5, in the Pinstripe Bowl: Northwestern started strong but faded down the stretch and really struggled defensively in the month of November.

The Wildcats are well coached in all three phases but they will have a hard time matching up against a Pitt offense that can run and throw the ball well.

This will be Pitt running back James Connor’s last game and I expect him to go off. I like the Panthers in this one as a -4.5 point favorite. I’m laying my money on them.

West Virginia at Miami -2.5, in the Russell Athletic Bowl: Miami is favored in this game. I can’t for the life of me figure out why? Is it because the game is in Orlando? It makes no sense.

I know West Virginia quarterback Skylar Howard struggled down the stretch but I don’t see how anyone can pick against the Mountaineers in this game.

West Virginia can run the football and unlike their Big 12 brethren, they play good defense.

I am putting my money on the Mountaineers in this one. They’ll get consistent pressure on Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya and they’ll shut down the Miami offense.

Utah v. Indiana +5.5, in the Foster Farms Bowl: I love Utah in this game. I think running back Joe Williams is going to run all over an Indiana defense that struggles to stop the run and gives up big plays.

The Utes will ruin the head coaching debut of Tom Allen and cover with ease.

Kansas State at Texas A&M -2, in the Texas Bowl: I’m taking the Aggies in this one because I am banking on quarterback Trevor Knight being healthy and the spread is manageable.
Kansas State is well coached but I think they’ll have their hands full with A&M defensive end Myles Garrett.

Garrett is a game plan wrecker and he’s playing in his last game. Look for him along with the rest of the A&M defense to shut down the Wildcats offense and lead the Aggies to a win.

Put your money on the Aggies in this one.
