Former Central Catholic star Ayden Pereira enters the transfer portal

Former Central Catholic quarterback Ayden Pereira has entered the transfer portal. Pereira spent the past two seasons at the University of Maine. He committed to the school prior to his senior season.

Pereira has three years of eligibility left so he will be appealing to schools looking for a young, athletic quarterback who has experience playing in the spread offense and can be a multi-year starter.

Pereira redshirted his freshmen year and was on the roster this past season for the Black Bears. Pereira was the 2021 Gatorade Player of the Year in Massachusetts.

During his career at Central Catholic, Pereira led the Red Raiders to the 2021 Division One Super Bowl. His senior season, Pereira threw for 2,823 passing yards with 34 touchdown passes to go along with 790 rush yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. For his career, Pereira finished with 5,551 passing yards, 68 touchdown passes, 1,614 rush yards and 31 rushing touchdowns.

Several local programs will be in the market for a starting quarterback next season so expect Pereira to garner interest locally and nationally.
