Following the Windham Jaguars Football journey in Ireland: Day 3

The Windham High School football program is on a journey of a lifetime this week. The Jaguars are participating in the Global Ireland Football Tournament.

Assistant coach Lauren Gaudette has been chronicling their trip for us. Here is a little bit of what the players and coaches have experienced on their trip.

Day Three:

Maclay beat Windham 35-23. Here is quick summary of the game.

Maclay scores on their first drive of the game and quickly went up 7-0. Both teams had big plays but usually answered with mistakes and penalties if not a great play by either defense! Maclay goes into the half up 10-0. Maclay offense gets hot off of some Windham turnovers and their largest lead was 35-7 in the 4th. We certainly didn’t back down and scored multiple times to make the game 35-23 with under 3 to play.

We are so proud of the boys, had an opportunity to back down but they stepped up and gave Maclay a game late. You can’t play against yourself as well as your opponent. But since it’s our first game action, plenty of chances to correct our mistakes! Defense played great for almost the whole game and the offense had numerous big plays.

After the game, we changed and then went back to Energia Park to watch the next 2 games: Episcopal School of Dallas vs IMG Academy. The 2nd game was the Jr Irish Wolfhounds U19 vs the Great Britain Lions U19!

Another fun day upcoming! But such an awesome day and a lot of fun! So proud of the boys and how they handled themselves in the game.
