First & 10: Ten Thoughts On the World of Football

It will be interesting to see if teams are willing to take a chance on Zach Orr.

Here are ten thoughts on the world of football for June 29th 2017.

1. Former Redskins running back Clinton Portis contemplated murdering a former financial advisor. What the hell?? Talk about a fall from grace. By the way, why isn’t he being charged with anything? Just saying.

2. Cowboys defensive end David Irving has been suspended for the first four games of the 2017 for PED use. I can’t say I am surprised. Have you seen the guy? It is not all natural.

3. Speaking of suspensions. Former Bills running back Karlos Williams has been suspended for the entire 2017 season for substance abuse. Williams has been suspended twice already including 10 games last season. I fear Williams career might be over. He can’t stay out of trouble or keep his weight under control.

4. Former Ravens middle linebacker Zach Orr had to retire earlier this off-season due to neck issues. Now he has announced that he wants to comeback because he has been cleared to play. I think Orr will garner interest but teams are going to put him through the ringer before they consider signing him.

5. Vince Young calling Ryan Fitzpatrick garbage is comical considering Young was out of football for three years before he got a shot with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Oh yeah. He tore his hammy with the Riders and they ended up cutting him earlier this month.

Maybe if Young focused on his craft and kept his weight down, he might still be in the league.

6. Former Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount has a $50,000 dollar weight clause in his contract. Why? The guy didn’t have a job up until last month! He can’t keep the fork out of his mouth long enough to earn $2.5 million this season? Seriously?

7. It’s hard to believe that every NFL camp will be open one month from tomorrow. Crazy! Where the hell does time go?

8. The NCAA is considering a universal transfer rule. It’s about time! Football and basketball should not play by their own rules.

9. The University of Marshall has approved the sale of beer at home games. Normally I would say that is a bad idea but it is West Virginia. There is nothing else to do there. Why not get drunk?

10. Two Vanderbilt football players were shot on Monday night. The incident involved a stolen phone. I thought only smart guys could get into Vandy?
