Contrarian Perspective: I’m Not Going to Get Sentimental About Milan Douchic.

Bruins fans will be feeling sentimental tonight with the return of old friend Milan Lucic. The Kings are in town tonight to battle the B’s in a pivotal cross conference showdown. Lucic will get a rousing standing ovation when he hits the ice but they’ll will be one guy who won’t be cheering. ME!

As most know, I’m not a fan of Lucic. I think he’s supremely overrated and a thug. He never lived up to the hype when he played here. As much as Bruins fans wanted him to be the next Cam Neely, Lucic never turned into that type of player.

I will say, the Bruins have lost a little of their edge since trading Lucic. Despite being overrated, he did epitomized the Big Bad Bruins persona and he played with a chip on his shoulder. There is no doubt Lucic has an edge to him. Maybe that’s why I don’t like him. He’s a douche and he knows it.

I’m sure Bruins fans will give him a nice standing ovation. Boston sports fans appreciate their athletes. They’ll get emotional and I’m sure Lucic will get emotional. Not me. I could care less. Screw him!

I will say this. I’m glad he’s gone. I just wish he was traded somewhere else. I like the Kings. I hate the idea that I might have to root for Lucic at some point. That thought makes me sick to my stomach.
