It is an all SEC national championship game as Alabama will battle Georgia for all the marbles. The two teams did not play each other this past season.
Here are three keys for both teams in what should be a great game.
3 Keys for Georgia
1. Keep Jalen Hurts in the Pocket: Jalen Hurts is a terrific athlete and he can beat defenses in a variety of ways. He is more dangerous as a runner than he is as a passer. Georgia must keep him in the pocket and not allow to make plays on designed runs or on broken plays.
2. Jake Fromm Must Play Within the System: The true freshmen has been great this season. He has played well, especially in big moments. Alabama’s defense will be the best defense Fromm has seen this season. He has to handle their pressure and cannot panic.
3. Chubb and Michel Have to Dominant: Nick Chubb and Sony Michel form the most lethal running back duo in the country. The Georgia offense will go as they go. Both backs need to be a factor in this game if the Bulldogs are going to keep pace with the Tide.
3 Keys for Alabama
1. Make Fromm Beat You: Alabama has to make Jake Fromm beat them. They are going to try to get Georgia into long down situations and put the ball in Fromm’s hands. The Tide will stack the box to stop Chubb and Michel and pressure Fromm.
2. Pass Protection: Georgia is athletic and they can get after the quarterback. Alabama has struggled in pass protection in the last four games. The Tide must give Jalen Hurts time in the pocket to find Calvin Ridley and the other Tide receivers.
3. Win the Line of Scrimmage: Georgia is physical on both sides of the ball. If Bama is going to win this game, they have to dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. They cannot allow the Bulldogs ground game to get on track and the Tide need to get Damien Harris and Bo Scarborough going early.
Final Prediction: Alabama 31 Georgia 28: I was leaning towards Georgia all day but I changed my mind. It is hard to pick against the Nickanator and the Tide. Alabama wants to make amends for losing to Clemson last year and I think they will. It won’t be easy but the Tide will win another national title.
