College Football: Dime Package for Week 11

Some thoughts on the week that was in College Football.

1. The Committee almost got it right last night by adding Miami and Oklahoma. I think Wisconsin belongs in the top four over Clemson but unless they run the table, the Badgers have no shot.

2. I must admit. I didn’t see Georgia getting thrashed the way they did by Auburn. The Tigers are for real but unless they win the Iron Bowl and the SEC Championship game, I don’t see them getting into the college football playoff.

3. Something tells me Alabama will not make the final four for the first time in four years. I think injuries and a lack of depth will catch up with them at some point in the next two weeks.

4. New Nebraska AD Bill Moos announced that Mike Riley will be allowed to finish the season. Great. He will fire Riley on November 25th. Moss doesn’t have a choice. The Nebraska football program is a mess right now.

5. Ohio State is the most Jekyll and Hyde program in the country. They get whacked by Iowa two weeks ago and then turn around and whack Michigan State. Go figure.

6. I am done doubting the Miami Hurricanes. Mark Richt has done a fabulous job of restoring the honor of one of the great programs in college football. The Canes are back! They are officially legit. Hopefully they don’t lose to Virginia on Saturday.

7. Oklahoma State, Iowa State was the most entertaining game of the weekend. All of a sudden, the Cyclones don’t play defense.

8. I must admit. I never bought Virginia Tech. I know Justin Fuentes is a good coach but there was something missing there. The Virginia Tech defense just didn’t have the same edge to them.

9. One has to think Bret Bielema is in trouble at Arkansas right? 4-6 is unacceptable at a place a that desperately wants to compete for SEC and national titles.

10. Central Florida improved to 9-0 but I still don’t feel like they are getting any love nationally. Despite that, if they run the table, they should get a New Year’s Day bowl bid.
