As we officially kick-off the 2018 college football season this weekend, here five things I would love to see happen in this season.
1. Ed Oliver Win the Heisman: I would love to see Oliver win the Heisman Trophy. He is the most dominant defensive player in the country and is poised for a big season. Oliver projects as a top three pick in next April’s draft. If he were to win the Heisman, Oliver would be only the second defensive player to win the award. Charles Woodson was the first.
2. A Mid-Major Makes the College Football Playoff: Whether it’s Central Florida or Boise State or someone else, I would love to see a mid-major get into the college football playoff. I don’t think the selection committee has the stones to pick them as one of the final four teams but I think it would be awesome if they did.
3. Ohio State Has A Losing Season: I am an Ohio State fan and have been for a long time. I love the Buckeyes. However, there is a part of me that would like to see them fall flat on their faces this season. I hate saying that because the players deserve better but given what happened with former receivers coach Zach Smith and the subsequent cover up, I don’t want to see Urban Meyer or the program have any success this season.
4. Alabama Lose in the Semi-Finals: I am sick and tired of seeing Alabama in the national title game. Seriously! Enough already. I would love to see someone knock them off. A team like Wisconsin for example.
5. A Non SEC or ACC Win the National Title: Enough with the SEC and ACC dominating the college football landscape. I would love to see a program from another conference win a national championship. It would be nice if a Big Ten, Pac 12 or Big 12 team won it this season. My pick would be Wisconsin. They have a lot of returning talent, especially on offense. They are a legit title contender.
Other things I would like to see:
6. Chip Kelly fall on his face at UCLA
7. Boston College running back A.J Dillon rush for 2,000 plus yards.
8. P.J Fleck wearing a polo shirt or sweatshirt instead of the stupid tie he wears.
9. Texas A&M go 7-5 and end up in a mediocre bowl game.
10. Jim Harbaugh actually be on the hot seat at Michigan.
