The pipeline from the New NEPSAC to Chestnut Hill remains wide open.
In a significant early splash for their 2028 recruiting class, Bill O’Brien and the Boston College football program secured a verbal commitment from standout Tabor Academy defensive back Mikey Landers.
The Duxbury, Massachusetts native announced his decision over social media, choosing to stay home after an explosive summer on the camp circuit:
“I am grateful and excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at [Boston College]. Thank you to my parents, coaches, and everyone who supported me along the way! Go Eagles.”
Standing at 6’3 and weighing 210 pounds, Landers immediately commands attention on the field. It is rare to find an underclassman defensive back with legitimate Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) size who retains the twitch and fluidity required to play in the secondary.
Landers caught the eyes of the Eagles’ staff at the Tabor Academy Evaluation Showcase. Despite boasting the long, lean frame typically reserved for modern hybrid linebackers or big-bodied safeties, coaches noted his exceptional footwork, suddenness out of his breaks, and remarkably fluid hips during secondary drills. He caps off that physical package with excellent closing speed and highly reliable hands.
For Boston College, Landers projects as a versatile chess piece defensively—a modern, rangy defensive back who can match up with athletic tight ends, erase space in the run game, and patrol the backend of the secondary in single high coverages.
Landers is coming off a stellar sophomore campaign at Tabor Academy under head coach Jeff Moore. He helped guide the Seawolves to an undefeated 9-0 record and a NEPSAC Class B Championship, earning First-Team All-Class B honors in the process.
His commitment also underscores a growing connection between Tabor and the Eagles. Landers becomes the second Tabor Academy star to choose BC recently, joining class of 2027 three-star offensive lineman Dominic Maser.
Though the class of 2028 is in its foundational stages, Landers gives Boston College a high-upside cornerstone alongside Catholic Memorial linebacker Joe Fitzgerald.
By identifying Landers early—offering him his first Division I opportunity back on June 21st after an on-campus workout—the Eagles’ coaching staff locked down a premier homegrown athlete before national programs could descend upon the South Shore.
