The NFLPA surveyed over 1,300 players recently and asked them to rate their experience with their organizations. Overall, the Patriots ranked 24th out of 32 teams in terms of overall player satisfaction. The ranking was surprising considering the team’s success the past 23 years.
Players anonymously rated the state of their teams’ facilities and their daily work experience by locker room; travel; training staff; strength staff; training room; weight room; nutrition; and treatment of families. The Patriots ranked 22nd or worse in five of the eight categories and ranked in the top ten of just one.
Here are the Patriots overall grades and ranks courtesy of Doug Kyed.
The grades are not good and they reflect poorly on how the Patriots are currently run as an organization. They have fallen behind in a sense and they need to catch up. Robert Kraft has always been a progressive and proactive owner so I would imagine that these grades and rankings will not sit well with him.
The Patriots announced that they will upgrading the weightroom and Gillette Stadium is going through a renovation as well but the Patriots have a ways to go with their players in terms of providing a better environment.
Winning and doing your job have been the sole focus of the organization for years. Times have changed. Players have changed. The Patriots need to operate differently. This scathing report should be a wake up call. Adapt or else. It is simple as that.
