Fantasy Football: Studs and Duds for Week 8

There were plenty of studs and duds this weekend in the NFL. Here is my list.

Studs

1.DeAndre Hopkins & Will Fuller, WR’s, Houston Texans: Hopkins and Fuller went off on one of the best defenses in the NFL. The two receivers combined for 13 catches for 349 yards and 3 touchdowns. That is impressive. Both are must starts this week against a beat up/vulnerable Colts defense.

2. Deshaun Watson, QB, Houston Texans: What can you say about the rookie quarterback that hasn’t already been said? His 19 touchdown passes through eight weeks is a rookie record. The scary thing is. Watson is only going to get better.

3. Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks: Russ looks like the Russ of old. Wilson went 26/41 for 452 yards and four touchdown passes. He also added 30 yards on the ground. Wilson is back to being a must start, like he was two years ago.

4. Jack Doyle, TE, Indianapolis Colts: Doyle has been victimized by Andrew Luck’s absence but he finally produced the way fantasy owners thought he would when they drafted him as a TE1. Doyle caught 12 passes for 121 and a touchdown. Is Doyle going to produce at this level for the reminder of this season? No, but Jacoby Brissett is comfortable with him now. That means Doyle is back to being a TE1. Depending on the match up of course.

5. Ju-Ju Smith Schuster, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers: Sorry Martavis Bryant but you may have lost your starting job to the rookie and it is your fault. Schuster is a better route runner than Bryant and more reliable underneath. He also has size. Schuster dominated a pretty good Lions secondary to the tune of 7 catches for 193 and a touchdown. Schuster now has four touchdowns on the season. He is must add moving forward if he is available in your league.

Duds

1. Jameis Winston, QB, Tampa Bay Bucs: The Bucs as a whole have been a disappointment this season but Winston has been especially bad. He was awful against Carolina. I get he is banged up but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he has regressed this season.

2. Hunter Henry, TE, Los Angeles Chargers: Henry was suppose to produce like a starting tight end this season but he has done anything but that. He had a great match up against the Patriots banged defense on Sunday and produced a measly 2 catches for 11 yards. He was targeted only two times which means Phillip Rivers isn’t confident that Henry can create separation and get open.

3. Devin Funchess, WR, Carolina Panthers: With the trade of Kelvin Benjamin to the Bills yesterday, Funchess is now the number one receiver in Carolina. He is going to need to be better than he was this past weekend. Funchess only caught two passes for 11 yards. He was targeted six times. That is a horrible ratio.

4. Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys: Prescott had a solid match up against the Redskins but thanks to the weather and the flow of the game, he failed to match his point total from the week before against the 49ers.

5. Seahawks Running Backs: The Seahawks rushed for 33 yards total. Russell Wilson accounted for 30 of those yards. Draw your own conclusions. Eddie Lacy had zero yards on six carries and Thomas Rawls had -1 on six carries.
