I don’t know about you but I had no idea that Rob Gronkowski injured a pectoral muscle working out this off-season? We’ve always known the Patriots were secretive but keeping this out of the media is impressive even by Bill Belichick’s standards.
It’s not a big deal. Gronkowski is fine but it would have been nice to know that the best tight end in the league is nursing an injury going into camp. It would have given us something to talk about in what has been an otherwise uneventful training camp thus far.
Big picture, it doesn’t matter that we didn’t know. Gronk is healthy and that’s all that matters. This situation reinforces the notion that the Patriots are like Fort Knox when it comes to releasing information to the public regarding their players.
I don’t blame Belichick but at the same time, I’m not surprised. It’s how the Patriots roll. Nothing ever gets out One Patriot Way.
By the way, kudos to Gronk for keeping it under wraps. I wasn’t sure if he had it in him but even Gronk understands that telling people your hurt is bad for business and it creates a distraction for the team. He might play the meathead but Gronk understands how the Patriot way works.
