PRINCETON, N.J. — The Ivy League announced on Tuesday afternoon, the 2025 Football All-Ivy teams. Two Bulldogs were honored with the prestigious Asa S. Bushnell Cup, signifying the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.
Senior running back Josh Pitsenberger claimed the Bushnell Cup as the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year, providing a fitting finish to a phenomenal collegiate career. Pitsenberger was the Ancient Eight’s most potent ground threat, leading the league with a 1,238 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns—a total that ranked him eighth in the entire FCS.
Pitsenberger’s consistency was unmatched, eclipsing the 100-yard mark in eight different games, including a season highlight of 173 rushing yards against Brown on November 8th. Furthermore, the running back proved to be a constant red-zone threat, scoring multiple touchdowns in five of his games.
Across the ball, the defensive side of the Bushnell Cup also returned to New Haven, as junior defensive back Abu Kamara was a unanimous selection for the Defensive Player of the Year honor. This major award marks a breakthrough for Kamara, who was previously recognized as an AP Honorable Mention All-America and a Buck Buchanan Award finalist a year ago.
Kamara was a defensive playmaker in every sense of the word, anchoring the Bulldog’s stout unit. He tallied 65 total tackles, six tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Kamara also made an impact on the back end, recording eight pass breakups, two interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble. He also scored two defensive touchdowns.
The sweep of the Ivy League’s most coveted individual awards underscores the exceptional talent and pivotal contributions of the two Yale stars to their team’s success this season.
The Yale staff also won Coaching Staff of the Year in the Ivy League. The Bulldogs will hit the road on Saturday to take on Youngstown State in the first round of the FCS Playoffs.
