At this point, every year is a big year for URI and head coach Jim Fleming.

With the Rams’ postseason drought pushing 36 years, recruiting in the portal has never been more important for Rhody. But, with that in mind, Fleming took a balanced approach this offseason, adding plenty of young talent to some older vets from the portal.

On Wednesday’s second National Signing Day, Rhode Island Football added five more players to its 2024 roster, three high school recruits and two transfers. In addition to the 10 signees that URI announced during the first NSD in December, the total number of new faces joining the program is 17.

“As we look ahead and prepare for what the next few years of our program will look like, it’s important that we bring in players who are invested in our shared vision,” Rhode Island head coach Jim Fleming said in a statement provided by URI.

“With this class, we have added guys who will be here, competing for spots and contributing to our culture, for multiple seasons. Our program got better today. We’ve added size, strength and speed. Now, it’s about getting these guys together and getting to work.”

Here are the five new additions:

Tyler Baker | Quarterback | Lockport, N.Y. | Navy (3 years remaining)

Thomas Buxton  | Offensive Line | Lanoka Harbor, N.J. | Stonehill (2 years of eligibility)

Antonio Morgan | Defensive Back | St. Petersburg, Fla. | Freshman

Ja’Maree Thomas | Defensive Back | Tampa, Fla. | Freshman

Terrell Spruill  | Defensive Line | East Mims, Fla. | Freshman
