UFL Draft offers four local college prospects another shot

The UFL Draft was held on Wednesday and several local college prospects were drafted. It is important to point out that many of the rookies drafted are already on NFL rosters heading into camp.

The players in the UFL draft pool were eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft but were not selected and signed as undrafted free agents with teams. A player must be at least three years removed from playing high school football.

The following former New England college players were drafted:

Lorenzo Thompson, OT, URI, Birmingham Stallions (2nd Round)

Jalen Coker, WR, Holy Cross, Memphis Showboats (4th Round)

Eric Watts, DE, UConn, Memphis Showboats (5th Round)

Mason Tipton, WR, Yale, Memphis Showboats (10th Round)

All four players were major contributors in their respective college programs and were all conference performers.

Of course the goal is to play in the NFL but if that does not workout for whatever reason, they will get another shot at playing professionally in the UFL.

The UFL teams will hold exclusive rights to the drafted players, though all players will have an “NFL Out” clause that allows them to sign with the NFL, but only during the NFL regular season.

New England college football programs continue to create a pathway for players to play professionally. If a local was not drafted, the UFL is hosting showcases at the following cities.
