Perry played in 53 games in his career and started in 41 of them. The California native began his college career at Colorado before transferring to TCU.
Perry was an Honorable Mention All Big-12 in 2023 after racking up 58 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble and 4 passes defended.
Here is my scouting report on Mark Perry.
Mark Perry, S, 6-0 213, TCU
Man to Man Coverage: Terrific athlete who has the straight line speed to match up against slot receivers and tight ends. Does a good job of getting his hands on receivers and getting hip position. Has the down field speed necessary to stay in phase vertically.
Zone Coverage: Better suited in a single high safety look where he can use his speed and athleticism to cover ground and play over the top.
Closing Quickness: Perry closes quickly once he diagnoses plays. Reads route breaks well and can plant, drive and finish on the play.
Key & Diagnose: Perry can be a tad aggressive when initially recognizing routes and gets caught out of position. Needs to do a better job of slow playing things in his drop.
Lateral Pursuit: Good athlete. Takes good angles and navigates his way through trash and finishes plays from the backside.
Tackling: Physical tackler but needs to do a better job of breaking down and running through ball carriers. Tends to stop his feet on contact.
Pass Drop: Perry has good feet and he can flip his hips and transition vertically but he can be a little high in his backpedal.
Pass Coverage/Hands: An area of concern. Perry only had 3 career interceptions and they all came in 2021 while he was at Colorado.
Final Report: Perry is a big, rangy safety who could play at all three levels but is at his best playing in the second and third level. He had a top 30 visit with the Patriots.
Draft Range: 4th-6th Round
