The Defections Continue at Baylor and Its Only Getting Worse

It’s been a tough two months for the Baylor football program and its getting worse. 11 members from the 2016 class have asked for their release from the program since the suspension/dismissal of Art Briles in May.

Defensive end Brandon Bowen was the latest member of the class to ask for his release. Bowen along with B.J. Autry, Parish Cobb, Tren’Davian Dickson, Devin Duvernay, Donovan Duvernay, Jeremy Faulk, Patrick Hudson, Kameron Martin, J.P. Urquidez and DeQuinton Osborne have also left the program in the past month.

That means that Baylor has lost 11 of the 22 members of its 2016 signing class. While the program might not feel the losses this season, it will in the next two to three years when Baylor struggles to compete in the Big 12.

Interim head coach Jim Grobe and his staff need to find a way to be competitive next season and stock the cupboard again. If they don’t win in 2016, the Baylor football program will once again sink to the bottom of the Big 12 and be an after thought nationally.

Baylor currently has one commitment for its 2017 class. The class ranks 113th in the nation as of right now. There are some dark days ahead for the Baylor football program. Jim Grobe has his work cut out for him.
