Archbishop Williams freshmen quarterback Hudson Garrity is no stranger to the spotlight. After all, the freshmen signal caller from Hingham is one of the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2029. Not locally, but nationally.

Garrity made his debut on Friday for the Bishops in a 24-12 win over Oliver Ames. Garrity was as advertised completing 16 of 26 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns and he rushed for 45 yards and two more scores on the ground.

Garrity says he was excited for the game and the opportunity to play his first high school game. It felt good getting his first varsity start under his belt.

“I was just really excited to play and compete more than anything. It was so fun.” Garrity added: “It was great. I wish it lasted longer. I wanted to keep playing. I had a blast. I love football and I love competing.”

Garrity has been competing for a few years now despite his age. When he is not playing for Archbishop Williams, he is playing football in the off-season both on a travel team and in the 7 on 7 circuit. The Under Armour All-American has a lot on his plate.

“Things are definitely busy but I just focus on one thing at a time and working to be the best at it. I like to keep it simple and just doing the work I need to do to get better.”

Garrity is mature beyond his years and has a lot to prove. Living up to the hype might be important to some young men but for Garrity, it is more important to be a good teammate and win.

“I want to be a great leader and a great teammate and I want to help my team win a state title. I just want to win! I am really excited to keep working and compete.”

You see why Garrity is already getting offers from schools like Syracuse. He is not just a talented football player. He is much more than that. Garrity’s maturity and leadership is what separates him from most freshmen in high school.
