On Sunday, Springfield Central beat Central Catholic, 44-26, in a game suspended from Friday night. Freshman quarterback Jareth Staine threw four touchdown passes, and three different running backs — Ja’Cyion Cox, Preston Longo, and Isaiah Rogers — found the end zone. New England prospects take in UMass practice

We were over in Amherst Saturday at UMass’ first padded practice of the spring, and we were far from the only visitors on hand to watch the Minutemen.   Over the last five years, few programs have made bigger gains that Springfield Central. Since 2018, the Golden Eagles have won two Division 3 state titles, and a Div. 1 crown in 2021.
