Screaming Eagles Blog: The Eagles Put Together a Solid 2017 Class

The late addition of Lawrence Academy ‘s A.J Dillon was a big time pick for Steve Addazio and his staff.

The Boston College football staff finished recruiting off on a high note, picking up some key last minute commitments from some of the best three star recruits in the country.

Steve Addazio and his staff rode the wave of a strong finish to the regular season and a victory in the Quick Lane Bowl to pick up some quality commitments down the stretch.

There were rumblings that Addazio could be in trouble but a late season turnaround coupled with a bowl win and a solid recruiting class has the Eagles head man back on solid footing.

Here are my thoughts on some of the players brought in as part of the 2017 class .

1. Running backs Travis Levy and A.J Dillon are both big backs that fit the B.C offense will. They are one cut, down hill runners who can push the pile and separate in the open field.

2. Addazio and his staff focused on adding depth to the secondary and they did that with cornerback Brandon Sebastian and safeties Ben Stewart and Jahmin Muse. All three are three star recruits who could make an impact early.

3. I really like offensive tackle Ben Petrula. At 6-6 320, he has good size and length and is a mailer in the running game. Petrula plays with good balance and is a natural bender. He could play early for the Eagles.

4. Wide receiver Caleb Stoneburner is a big target at 6-4 205. Stoneburner is a good route runner who posses strong hands and displays good body control in one on one, jump ball situations. He ran a 4.49 last summer and that caught the attention of the B.C coaching staff.

5. Cheshire Academy’s C.J Lewis is another big target at 6-3 205. Lewis originally committed to Tennessee but decommitted and decided to sign with the Eagles instead. Lewis is a terrific pick up for the Eagles. He is a playmaker who could pay dividends for the Eagles right away.

6. Another wide receiver in this class to keep an eye on is  Noah Jordan Williams out of Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York. Williams is another intriguing prospect who could contribute as a freshmen. He continues the Eagles theme of big receivers with this recruiting class.

7. Tight ends Patrick Brown and Hunter Long are both 6-5 and are 230 pounds plus. They are athletic and have frames that will allow them to put on additional weight. Both can line up on the line or split out wide and be effective targets down the field.

8. Tate Haynes is the son of former Raiders great Mike Haynes. Haynes is listed as an athlete but he only ran a 4.81 last summer so as a result, he may stay at quarterback. Haynes has started at quarterback the last three years.

9.  Andover quarterback E.J Perry IV will need some time to develop. It is good for him that he enrolled early and is already in school. Getting to the Heights early will do wonders for his development.

10. I don’t see offensive tackle Alec Lindstrom following in the steps of his brother Chris and playing as a freshmen. Alec has to develop more physically. Lindstrom also enrolled early which should help his development.

Steve Addazio and his staff landed a quality. All 20 commitments could play for the Eagles at some point in the next years.
