Screaming Eagles Blog: Clemson Tigers (5-0) at Boston College Eagles (3-2)

Storyline: The Eagles host DeShaun Watson, Wayne Gallman and the number 3 Clemson Tigers tonight at the Heights. B.C is coming off of a 35-3 win over Buffalo while Clemson beat Louisville in a shootout 42-36.

Here are my three keys to tonight’s game

1. Ball Control on Offense: Playing keep away is key for the Eagles tonight. They must keep DeShaun Watson and the explosive Tigers offense on the sideline as long as possible. The clock has to be the Eagles friend tonight if they want to win this game. B.C must win the time of possession battle.

2. Keep Watson in the Pocket: B.C cannot allow Watson to break contain and extend plays. The Eagles need to utilize an outside sugar rush and keep Watson in the pocket. The defensive ends and outside linebackers can’t get too far up the field. They must breakdown at the line of scrimmage and contain Watson. Keeping him in the pocket and throwing off his timing is paramount.

3. Three Phase Effort: You can’t win games like this on offense or defense. The Eagles will need a three phase effort if they want to win this game. They must play well on offense, defense and special teams in order to win this game.

Prediction: Clemson 34 Boston College 17: I think the Eagles will hang tough for a half but Clemson’s speed and athleticism will be the difference in this game. I like the Tigers by two scores.
