We got a chance to catch up with North Attleboro standout offensive and defensive lineman Nathan Rivera. Rivera is one of the top two way lineman in the Hockomock League and he is primed for a big season.
Here is our conversation with Nathan. He was gracious enough to time from his busy school and lacrosse schedule.
NEFJ: How has the off-season gone for you so far? What have you done in regards to getting yourself ready for the upcoming season?
NR: “So far the offseason has been a success. I am currently in lacrosse season. We have our last regular season game today and playoffs begin next week. In order to maintain strength, we have been having before school workouts for football players that play spring sports to still be able to lift.”
NEFJ: How has the recruiting process been. How much communication have you had with coaches? Any specific schools that you have spoken with you or offered you lately?
NR: “The recruiting process has been a success this far for me. I’ve had some great communication with coaches that have came into school along with junior days I have attended. Some of the colleges that have come in include: URI, Bentley, St Anselm, Marist, Endicott, Salve, and many more. This past winter and spring I spent time going to Marist, Brown, and Williams junior day. All schools that I feel I have a great connections with the coaches.”
NEFJ: Have you had the opportunity to show what you can do at any showcases or combines this off-season?
NR: “I have not had the opportunity to showcase my skills at any showcase or combine yet. I hope to do more events like that this summer. It would be a good way to get in front of college coaches.”
NEFJ: What is your summer looking like in terms of camps and preparing for the upcoming season?
NR: “So far for the summer, I have signed up for camps at Marist on June 1st, URI on June 5th, Bryant on June 14th, Bentley July 18th, St Anselm July 19th, Merrimack June 18th, and Brown July 9th. Apart from colleges, as captains we have began working with our strength and conditioning coach Adam Hughes to craft a very solid summer workout program that will be starting up within the next couple of weeks. In addition to these workouts, we will host captains practice as a way of team bonding and getting in even better shape for the upcoming season.”
NEFJ: When do you anticipate making a decision regarding what school you will be attending in the Fall of 2026?
NR: “I hope to make my decision for the school I will be attending early next school year. In the September/October range.
NEFJ: How do you plan to unwind the rest of this off-season before the regular season grind begins?
NR: “As lacrosse season comes to an end, I am not looking to really unwind. Instead I am looking on building off of the great speed that lacrosse has provided me with to get even faster and stronger. I am looking to bring this mindset into the weight room and on the field with my teammates over the summer to ensure that North Attleboro stays at the top and can remain state champions.”
