Preseason Rhode Island High School Football, Top 25

The 2025 High School Football season in New England kicks off this week. Here is our first look at our Rhode Island Top 25 for the upcoming.

As usual, Bishop Hendricken leads the way but there is a lot of parity in the state with several programs across the state, in all divisions contending for a state title.

Here is our first Ocean State Top 25 of the season.

1. Bishop Hendricken: The Hawks won another state title and graduated a talented senior class but Keith Kroft’s squad has some talented returning players ready to step in and keep the tradition alive. Running back Jeremy Seidi is the best back in the state and one of the best in New England.

2. North Kingstown: The Skippers are coming off a Division 1 state title and strong returning group led by quarterback Jack Diano and running back Chris Ciarniello.

3. LaSalle: New coach Dan Koppen replaces the legendary Geoff Marcone. The former Boston College Eagle and Super Bowl winner with the Patriots inherits a talented team led by quarterback Samuel Perry and athlete Antonio Bearden. The Rams will once again be in state title contention.

4. Westerly: The Bulldogs play a strong schedule and return arguably the most talented passer in the state in Landon Husereau.

5. St. Raphael’s Academy: St. Ray’s graduate a solid group but Chris Sassi’s squad returns one of the most dynamic tandems in the state in quarterback Tashaad Brown and wide receiver Armand Northup-Reed.

6. Cumberland: Losing Coach Josh Lima late is tough but the Clippers return a young but talented group ready to keep the program’s momentum going.

7. Central: Mike Washington once again plays one of the toughest schedules in the state. The Knights return a talented skill group that wants to bounce back after a disappointing 5-6 season in 2024.

8. Portsmouth: Quarterback Adam Conheeny and running back Joe Sanderson pace an explosive offensive attack that should allow the Patriots to build off of last season’s 7 win team.

9. South Kingstown: The Rebels finally won that elusive state title last season. Getting back will be tough with all the departures but having running back Dante Peno back helps.

10. West Warwick: Quarterback Nathan Corona and standout defensive end Luke Gallo lead a Wizards team primed to make another state title run.

11. Barrington: The Eagles were young last season and finished 3-6. Now that young group has grown up and is ready to resurrect this proud program.

12. Middletown: Islanders looking to get back to their high standards after a disappointing 4-6 season.

13. Cranston West: Quarterback Kelan Cornell returns to power a Falcons passing attack that should once again be potent. Cranston West needs to finish better this season.

14. Burriville: The Broncos lost in the Division 1 state title game and graduated a talented senior class. Tradition will have to guide the program now.

15. East Providence: Running back Aithan Vasquez returns to pace an offense that will give the Townies a chance to build off a solid 7 win season in 2024.

16. Moses Brown: The Quakers went 4-6 last season but return a talented group of underclassmen.

17. Classical: Quarterback Parker Howley returns but replacing Jordan Duke’s 48 total touchdowns is virtually impossible.

18. Ponaganset: The defending D3 champs have a lot of talent to replace. There is some good young talent in the program.

19. Lincoln: The Lions went 4-4 last season but return a talented young group led by running back Jayden Rodrigues.

20. Rogers: The Vikings went 7-3 last season led by a senior heavy team. Tough to repeat this year.

21. Coventry: The Oakers won five games last season and return a talented group of underclassmen.

22. Shea: The Raiders graduated a talented senior class but there are some good underclassmen in this group including Senior quarterback Angel Lopes.

23. Narragansett: After a nine win season and a senior laden team, all eyes will be on the Mariners to see if they bounce back after losing in the D4 state title game.

24. Davies Career & Technical: Davies beat Narragansett in the Division 4 state title game. They return a good junior group that should once again allow them to contend for a state.

25. Pilgrim: The Patriots went 7-4 last season and have some talented underclassmen back to keep things going.
