We caught up with former Bellingham standout and Stonehill wide receiver Chris Domercant. Domercant entered the transfer portal on December 4th and currently has nine offers. UMass, UNH and URI have all offered Domercant.
At 6-2 190, Domercant has terrific size and is an explosive athlete who can create separation versus man or zone coverage. He wins one on one and can high point the ball and make plays in the red zone. Domercant caught 85 passes for 1,520 yards and 16 touchdowns during his time in Easton. He did that in just 24 games. Domercant was a two-time all NEC selection.
We caught up with Chris to see where he is in the recruiting process, what he is looking for in a school and his game.
NEFJ: What made you decide to enter the portal and how has the process gone so far?
CD: I decided to enter the portal to play a higher level of football. I want to play on a big stage and help a team that’s had proven success. The process has gone pretty well for me so far as I’ve received interests from schools all over and I’ve picked up about 10 offers up until this point.
NEFJ: While you wait for offers to come in, what are you working on in terms of your game?
CD: Since the season has ended I’ve been working on building my foundation before I head into my next program. So I’ve been doing a lot of soft tissue work, mobility, stability, and starting to work my way back into a strength and conditioning program with my trainer.
NEFJ: What are you looking for in your next school?
CD: At my next school, I’m looking for a place that has a great community and support behind their program. I’m also looking for a place that makes sense for me academically as far as staying on track to graduate. I’d also love to play on a team with an explosive offense.
NEFJ: How would you describe your game? What are your strengths?
CD: I’d describe my game as a smooth and defined route runner who is also very dynamic. I believe that I’m an elite deep threat receiver who can also do some damage in the short in intermediate game as well. But I feel like my combination of speed and length is what separates me from others. I have a huge catch radius which can create mismatches all over the field.
Domercant still has two years of eligibility left but could end up having a third year of eligibility as well. That will be determined at a later date.
