Former UMass quarterback Brady Olson entered the transfer portal on December 4th. He has two years of eligibility left.
Olson committed to UMass out of Milford High School where he was a three star prospect who played for his uncles, Dale and Dana Olson.
Olson appeared in 19 games in his career at UMass. He completed 181-of-368 passes for 1,936 yards, 10 touchdown passes and 16 interceptions.
We got a chance to catch up with Brady and get his thoughts on entering the portal and what he is looking for in his next school.
NEFJ: What made you decide to enter the portal and how has the process gone so far?
BO: I entered the transfer portal because I wanted the chance to play football for as long as I can and transferring will in the long run hopefully help those chances.
NEFJ: While you wait for offers to come in, what are you working on in terms of your game?
BO: The main thing is the development in the physical aspect of the game throwing with my QB coach. Second is learning more about the game itself, studying and watching more football than I ever have.
NEFJ: What are you looking for in your next school?
BO: I am looking for a school that fits my play style and has a philosophy that I love.
NEFJ: What advice would give someone who is considering entering the portal?
BO: I don’t really have any advice, it’s my first time in the portal as well I’m still learning everyday how it works. The main thing is be patient and advocate for yourself.
Olson is looking forward to getting in front of coaches and proving that he has the skill set to play in any system and thrive. He has been around the game his whole life and he comes from a football family.
Olson is a gym rat. He is a tireless worker who spends his off-season working with quarterback coach and watching film. He puts the time in to get better.
Watching Olson at practice and in games, he displays all the qualities you look for in a quarterback. He works hard, leads by example and is accountable.
