Pirates Preview: Massachusetts Pirates (6-3) at Frisco Fighters (7-2)

Containing quarterback T.J Edwards will be a key for the Pirates defense.
Huge game in Frisco tonight between the rival Pirates and Fighters. The winner of this game ends up in first place in some fashion. If the Pirates win, they are tied for first place. If the Fighters win, they are in sole possession of first place.

Here is our preview for tonight’s game.

1. Get Edwards off of his spot: The Pirates defensive line must get consistent pressure on Fighters quarterback T.J Edwards and get him off his spot. When he has time in the pocket, he is lethal. The Pirates cannot allow him to hang in there make his reads. Throw him off his spot.

2. Contain Edwards as a runner: Notice the theme here? It is all about containing Edwards and not allowing him to be the dynamic difference maker he can be both as a runner and as a passer. He has been the best player in the IFL thus far. Do not let him get into a rhythm early or else it will be a long night.

3. Offense must get off to a fast start: I say this every week but the offense needs to get off to a fast start. You know this game is going to be a shootout. The Pirates need to be efficient early and strike fast.

Final Thoughts: The Pirates, Fighters rivalry is the best in the IFL. These two teams get the most out of each other. Expect the Pirates to be ready to go in what should be another shootout.
