SOUTH HAMILTON — The Pingree Highlanders (2-1) emphatically bounced back from last week’s historic triple-overtime loss, routing New Hampton with a convincing 40-14 victory on Friday night. The win serves as a major morale boost as the Highlanders prepare to continue their home stand.
Pingree’s offense was dynamic and balanced, racking up 354 total yards of offense, including a strong showing on the ground with 213 rushing yards.
The scoring was spread across multiple positions, highlighting the Highlanders’ depth. Quarterback Jack Spear found the end zone on a rushing touchdown. Wide receivers Colt Downey and Jonah Richardson both contributed touchdowns as well in the win. Running back Baron DiMeco led the scoring with two touchdowns on the night. The Highlanders racked 354 yards of total offense including 213 on the ground.
The defense held New Hampton in check, allowing only 14 points. Defensive End Liam Roberts anchored the unit, leading the team with 5 tackles. Linebacker Matt McDonald provided the game’s key turnover, recording an interception to help stifle New Hampton’s attack.
The Highlanders successfully shook off the disappointment of their 29-27 triple-overtime loss to Worcester Academy the previous week, proving their resilience.
Pingree will return to “The Farm” next Saturday to host a good Portsmouth Abbey program led by first year coach Stanley Dunbar.
