Patriots: The Patriots cannot afford to take the Jets lightly

The Patriots are 2-4 on the season and in desperate need of a win. One of their two wins this season came in week two when they beat the New York Jets 25-6 at MetLife Stadium.

One month later and the two teams meet again. Both teams dwindling playoff chances are on the line in what can only be described as a must win.

The story of the first meeting was the Patriots defense. They picked off rookie quarterback Zach Wilson four times and kept the Jets offense in check for the most part.

Despite the four turnovers, the Jets still racked up 362 yards of total offense. They moved the ball, it’s just that their drives were stymied by poor decision making by Wilson.

If Wilson had taken better care of the football, the Jets most certainly would have been more competitive in that first match up.

The Jets of course have since won a game beating Tennessee three weeks ago at home. The win reinforces the notion that this team can play with and beat anyone on any given Sunday. The Patriots can ill afford to look past this team. If they do, it could be very costly in the end.

The Jets are certainly good enough to come in here and win. The Patriots are not playing at a high enough level where you can count this as a win and move onto next week. There’s no such thing as a gimme in the NFL.

The Patriots singular focus is getting a win this week and building some momentum towards a playoff push. They are in no position to take any team lightly including the Jets.

The Patriots need a win and it will four quarters to earn it against a team that is good enough to win here.
