The Patriots finally achieved the offensive balance they have been striving for the past three weeks. It only took playing the Jacksonville Jaguars to do it but the Patriots finally put together a complete performance yesterday. They ran the ball well, they threw the ball well and they took care of the ball.

In fact, the Patriots were so good on offense yesterday that they had a 71% success rate according to Football Outsiders.

Mac Jones completed 22 of 30 passes for 227 yards and 3 touchdown passes. The running backs churned out 181 yards on the ground with both Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson both scoring two touchdowns apiece.

It was all smiles after the game and Jones talked about how good it felt to get the offense back on track.

“Yeah, I think we had a really good plan and Josh [McDaniels] outlined that for us. The offensive line obviously did a great job executing and keeping the pocket clean and all that, and the receivers making their catches, and the running backs running. That’s kind of how offensive football should work, and obviously we’ll watch the tape and see what we can get better at, but we finally kind of got some momentum early and just played the game on our terms and all that. That’s what we wanted to do.”

Jones mentioned the offensive line which did in fact play pretty well. It comes at a good time. The Patriots will need this unit to settle down and lead the way. After struggling the first two months of the season, this group has turned it around and if they can continue to play well, it will bode well for this offense the rest of the way.

Bill Belichick also benched N’Keal Harry yesterday, a move many Patriots fans were calling for. The insertion of Kristian Wilkerson into the line-up paid immediate dividends. Wilkerson scored two touchdowns. He gives the Patriots another target in the passing game and could prove to be a valuable piece down the stretch, especially as a vertical threat.

The Patriots did whatever they wanted to offensively against Jacksonville but it won’t be that easy moving forward. However, if they can build off of this performance, they could be a tough out moving forward. It starts this week with a tough challenge in Miami against a defense that is disciplined, well coached and talented. If the Patriots can move the ball against them, they will be able to move it against a lot of teams.
