Game Rewind: Tom Brady picked up career win No. 201 as the Patriots beat the Rams 26-10. Here are five thoughts on the game.
1. Brady Hits 201: What more can you say about T0m Brady? Seriously. If there was any doubt as to who the greatest quarterback of all time is, this record should put an end to that conversation. Brady is the winningest quarterback of all time. I don’t want to hear about Joe Montana anymore! Brady is the GOAT!
2. Life Without Gronk Means Balance: Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels called a more balanced game this week thanks in large part to Rob Gronkowski being out.
McDaniels called 46 pass plays and 29 running plays. I know that might not seem like balance when you look at the play distribution but it is balance for the Patriots who are traditionally a pass first offense. Look for more of the same this week against the Ravens.
3. The Defense Played Well: Look, the defense played well but lets not get too excited here. Its the Rams. They are awful offensively. Lets see how they play in the next two weeks before we start proclaiming them a championship caliber defense.
4. Emergence of Kyle Van Noy: I loved Kyle Van Noy at BYU. He was a Swiss Army knife if you will. He played defensive end, outside linebacker, inside linebacker and safety. The Patriots are using him in a similar role and it is paying off. Van Noy is a good football player and his versatility will make him a valuable asset to the Patriots moving forward.
5. Amendola Tweaks Ankle: Amendola tweaked his ankle on a punt return. The Patriots need Amendola coming down the stretch. Look for them to take their time with him and not rush him back.
