I can’t say I’m surprised that the Patriots released 2014 first round pick Dominique Easley. Easley had “top ten” talent coming out of Florida in 2014 but a myriad of injuries, namely a torn right ACL limited Easley to only three games his last year in Gainsville.
The Patriots reached for Easley. I didn’t like the pick at the time because of Easley’s injury history. You can’t take a chance in the first round on a guy like Easley given the fact that he can’t stay healthy. I know Belichick is a smart guy but he outsmarted himself with this pick.
With Easley gone, Terrance Knighton will now start opposite Malcolm Brown. The Patriots also have Alan Branch, Chris Jones, Markus Kuhn, Joe Vellano and Ishmaa’ily Kitchen on the roster as well. They’ll also address the position in the draft.
