The NFL’s decision to move the game stems from another positive COVID test for the Patriots.
It was revealed on Tuesday that Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore tested positive for the Coronavirus. According to the reigning defensive player of the year, he is asymptotic. Gilmore was placed on the COVID 19/Reserve list and is currently quarantining at home.
So, what does this mean for the Patriots? It means they get an extra day to prepare because they have not been at the facility since Gilmore’s positive test was announced. According to Jim McBride of the Boston Globe, the Patriots are not expected to return to the facility until Saturday.
The extra day means we could also see both starting quarterbacks play. Cam Newton was out last week because of a positive COVID 19 test and Drew Lock has missed the past two games with a shoulder injury.
The Patriots will once again have to adjust their schedules for the second straight week. Thus is life in this era of COVID 19. Things are going to be unpredictable all season long.
