Patriots host the Chargers in a game they can win. The weather will be a factor as well as it is expected to rain all afternoon and into the evening. As always, join the conversation in the comments section.

Patriots 1st Possession: 1st & 10 at own 25

  • Quick three and out for the Patriots. Two passes and a run.Not a good start.
  • Gillette Stadium only 60% full. Weather a factor but the team is 2-9. That matters.

Chargers 1st Possession: 1st & 10 at own 27

  • Defense gets the three and out to start. Continuing their high level of play.

Patriots 2nd Possession: 1st & 10 at own 13

  • Pats pick up the first down on the QB sneak. Drive cooking here?
  • 12 men in the huddle on offense???? Seriously??? That’s rare.
  • Good day to ground and pound. Patriots showing patience with the run game.
  • Patriots finally get in the I. I have been asking for it for a while now.
  • Scrappy Zappe on this drive. Print the T-Shirts now folks.
  • Stevenson fumbles and then gets hurt to boot. When it rains, it pours. Even on rainy days. UNREAL.

Chargers 2nd Possession: 1st & 10 at own 32

  • Patriots defense holds up again and gets yet another stop.

Patriots 3rd Possession: 1st & 10 at own 6

  • Patriots get six on first down and then proceed to go three and out. This offense is so inept right now. Just can’t string anything together and when they do, they either stall or turn it over.
  • 70 yard punt by Baringer.

Chargers 3rd Possession: 1st & 10 at own 18

  • Chargers moving the ball at the end of the first quarter. Patriots giving up things underneath and the Chargers taking advantage by hitting Gerald Everett on back to back pass plays.

  • Patriots defense stands tall again. Big stop after a promising start to the drive.

Patriots 4th Possession: 1st & 10 at own 9

  • Defense has played well but they need to tilt the field position here a little bit.
  • Patriots using jet motion to window dress inside zone. Give it to Thornton at some point.
  • Zeke losses six yards. Thanks for coming.

Chargers 4th Possession: 1st & 10 at own 47

  • Patriots screwing down the safety to stop the run, roll to 3 and Herbert hits Johnston for 8 yards.
  • Patriots defense holds again and forces the field goal. Kick is good and we finally have some points.

CHARGERS 3 PATRIOTS 0: 9:09 2nd quarter

Patriots 5th Possession: 1st & 10 at own 25

  • Great play by Zeke on the screen. Showed good patience and made people miss in space. 23 yard completion.
  • Delay of game. That’s on Zappe. QB manages the clock on the field. COME ON!!
  • Another drive stalls.  Zero ability to make anything happen in the passing game past five yards.

Chargers 5th Possession: 1st & 10 at own 17

  • Patriots are going to need a defensive score if they want to win this game.
  • Gerald Everett, Patriots killer.
  • Bentley goes down. The injuries keep piling up.
  • Defense gets yet another stop. Fantastic effort today.

Patriots 6th Possession: 1st & 10 at own 9

  • Nothing to see here folks. Still a struggle on offense.
  • Zappe has to make that throw to Elliott. That is just flat out bad. The offense has actually looked worse today than the last two weeks. I know, it is not that hard to believe.

Chargers 6th Possession: 1st & 10 at Patriots 27

  • Patriots defense holds again. Dicker hits another 38 yard field goal and it’s 6-0 Bolts.

  • Patriots defense forces another three and out. Playing well once again and will more than likely have nothing to show for it.

Patriots 8th Possession: 1st & 10 at own 18

  • Good start to this drive for the Patriots. Theyre moving albeit methodically.
  • Crafty, Scrappy Zappe with the first down run to keep the drive alive.
  • And back to back sacks kill the drive. Never mind.

Chargers 8th Possession: 1st & 10 at own 7

  • Huge third down conversion. Patriots needed to get off the field there and they couldn’t. They need a turnover, badly!
  • Bolts get 16 yards on 3rd and 9. This feels like a drive that they can finally score as touchdown on.
  • Never mind. Patriots defense forces another punt. Doing their part, it is the offense that continues to struggle.

Patriots 9th Possession: 1st & 10 at own 2

  • Big completion to start the drive.
  • Another first down. Let’s see if they can do something with this.
  • Nevermind, McDermott got beat like a drum by Mack. Zappe goes down. 3rd & 16

  • Patriots face a key 4th and 5. Got to go for it here.
  • Annnnd they punt.

Chargers 9th Possession: 1st & 10 own 26

  • Bolts need to put together a drive. They score here and it is over.
  • Defense gets yet another stop at midfield on 3rd and 3. You almost have to feel bad for them. Playing their asses off.
  • DX playing after that stop is appropriate given the fact that the Patriots defense is losing their minds that another effort of theirs will go wasted.

Patriots 10th Possession: 1st & 10 at own 20

  • FINALLY!!!!! Some imagination in this offense. A play-action reverse is creative in this offense.
  • Crowd chanting ZAPPE….ZAPPE…What are we doing here folks???
  • Derwin James comes from depth on the blitz and the Patriots drive ends on 4th and 5. Last gasp more than likely.

Chargers 10th Possession: 1st & 10 from own 38

  • Patriots hold once again with the Chargers at midfield.

Patriots 11th Possession: 1st & 10 from own 15

  • Big completion to Parker to start.
  • Defensive P.I keeps the drive alive. Here we go……
  • Almost catch from Parker gets the crowd excited.
  • 4th and 8 falls short.
