Sights and sounds from Patriots training camp – Day 7
Well, well, well…the offense has arrived. While it hasn’t been as ugly as the first few days last season, the first week or so of training camp so far had been “meh” offensively as the defense had little trouble making its presence known. Matthew Slater is entering his 16th season in the NFL. Best known for being one of the best special teams players in the league and one of the greatest special teams players of all-time, it is easy to talk about what Slater has done on the field. Slater however doesn’t just want to be remembered for what he accomplished on the field. He wants to be remembered for what he…
Jalen Hurd retires, Patriots sign WR Thyrick Pitts
Wide receiver Jalen Hurd’s career as a Patriot lasted all of a week as the 2019 third round pick of the San Francisco 49ers was placed on the reserved/retired list by the Patriots. The Patriots drafted Jake Andrews, Sidy Sow and Atonio Mafi in this past April’s draft with an eye to the future. Well, the future is now for them and second year offensive lineman Chasen Hines and Andrew Stueber. None of the young lineman were expected to get as many reps as they have thus far but this is life in the NFL. Training camp is a period of opportunity for…

The first day in pads for the Patriots lacked physicality and that is by design
Monday was the first day in pads for the Patriots and needless to say, it did not live up to the expectations of fans and media alike. People at Monday’s practice were expecting more contact and physicality. Much to their chagrin, they got neither. Admittedly, the energy at practice for a first day in pads was not great. The practice lacked tempo and pace at times but it wasn’t because…
