Opinion: The Belichick T-Shirt Reaction is a PC Overreaction

By John Sarianides

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is in the news this week however it has nothing to do with the Patriots. With training camp still two weeks away, Belichick is catching heat for a T-Shirt he was wearing when he took a photo with a young girl last weekend in Nantucket.

The T-Shirt depicts an American solidier chasing a terrorist with a gun and the caption Life is Good on the bottom of the image. The shirt is sleeveless of course which is classic Belichick.

The T-Shirt has been both applauded and criticized depending on what side of the political spectrum you sit on. Conservatives love the T-Shirt and are hailing Belichick as a supporter of our troops. Liberals are questioning why Belichick would wear the T-Shirt and have deemed it offensive.

This whole controversy is nonsense. It is a non-story in my opinion. So what? Belichick is wearing a Life is Good T-Shirt. BIG FREAKING DEAL!

I don’t view him as some man’s, man because he is wearing the T-Shirt.  I also don’t think it is offensive. What, now we are worrying about the civil liberties of terrorists? Give me a break! Oh and spare me the turban nonsense too!

The reaction to Belichick’s shirt is a classic overreaction. People need to get a grip. If you are offended by a simple T-Shirt with a simple message, then you really ought to reassess how you view the world.

No wonder our society has gone to hell in a hand basket. People are getting offended by a T-Shirt that portrays a silly cartoon. Grow up people!

To bastardize a quote by Jimmy “The Gent” Conway in Good Fellas. Political correctness has turned your brains into mush!
